For the king location by file, I'm getting the following counts:<br /><br />a: 0<br />b: 108<br />c: 168<br />d: 204<br />e: 204<br />f: 168<br />g: 108<br />h: 0<br /><br />That would give us the following counts for pawn protected by the king by file:<br /><br />a: 108<br />b: 276<br />c: 480<br />d: 576<br />e: 576<br />f: 480<br />g: 276<br />h: 108<br /><br />combining that with your numbers would give us the percentage of king protected pawns that are weak, by file:<br /><br />a: 0%<br />b: 28%<br />c: 18%<br />d: 16%<br />e: 16%<br />f: 18%<br />g: 28%<br />h: 0%<br /><br />So it seems that the king is more likely to be in the center and center pawns are more likely to be protected by other pieces, but it doesn't quite balance out.
