- CCM9 - FiNet Open (Chess960); 30-31 July 2009; 8th FiNet Open - 'World's biggest Chess960 Rapid Chess Tournament' The ICC held an online qualification tournament where first prize, expenses paid to the Mainz event, was won by GM Grischuk. For details, see Chess 960 Internet Championship 2009.
- 5th Livingston Chess960 Computer World Championship; 29-31 July 2009; Participants: Rybka 3 960, Deep Shredder, plus two qualifiers. The two qualifiers -- Deep Sjeng and Ikarus -- were announced in Deep Sjeng gewinnt Qualifier zur Chess Classic Mainz.
