- CCM9 - FiNet Open (Chess960); 30-31 July 2009; 8th FiNet Open - 'World's biggest Chess960 Rapid Chess Tournament' • The ICC held an online qualification tournament where first prize, expenses paid to the Mainz event, was won by GM Grischuk. For details, see Chess 960 Internet Championship 2009.
- 5th Livingston Chess960 Computer World Championship; 29-31 July 2009; Participants: Rybka 3 960, Deep Shredder, plus two qualifiers. • The two qualifiers -- Deep Sjeng and Ikarus -- were announced in Deep Sjeng gewinnt Qualifier zur Chess Classic Mainz.
